FUSING with "NON FUSIBLE GLASS"

Jan 1, 2024

There seems to be a lot of confusion over "Fusible" & Non Fusible" glass, so let's try and clear this up.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS NON FUSIBLE GLASS!

All glass is fusible, but not all glasses are compatible. What this means, is that all glass within a certain brand is compatible with itself, but not necessarily with other brands.

Let's approach this with a different point of view. Instead of thinking of COE, let's think of Brand names. As an example of this, we'll take Kokomo glass, which doesn't produce a "fusible glass", but in 99% of the time, all Kokomo glasses can be fused together, as can any other brand be fused with itself. Don't mix brands and you will not have any issues, so go ahead and experiment with fusing Brands by themselves. Also if you know where a certain glass comes from (what factory), you can determine if it can be fused with other Brands. An example of this is Artisan, Choice and Designer glass, which all comes out of the same factory and can all be fused together.

In some cases, there can be slight issues such as devitrification (a white film on the surface), or a strike (colour change). This can all be addressed very easily with some simple test pieces.
