Amber/Purple: Of the striking colours in the borosilicate palette the Amber/purples are some of the most exciting. #NS0013 is the first in a series of five Amber/Purple colours. It is well suited for sculpture and moderately thin blown work. The colour can produce pale yellows to ambers to a deep purple. To yield the most vibrant purples, work in a hot neutral to slightly oxidizing flame. Reduction will affect the strike. Try encasing your favorite Amber/Purple with #NS0032 Violet, or #NS0031 Lavender. To enhance #NS0013 Amber/Purple try backing it with #NS0054 Star White.

Heavy Blue Stardust is a Transparent darker blue aventurine with big, glittery dichroic-like sparkles. Great for layering or backing, also mixes down with other colors well to add sparkle. Heavy Blue Stardust is darker blue sapphire with a higher density of sparkle, than the regular Blue Stardust. The usual cautions against long, hot garaging technically apply since this is an aventurine color, however it is stable in implosions and encasements..

NS-126 Opaque Aqua is a very smooth turquoise blue green color. It is easy to use in all types of flame and doesn’t suffer from reduction. Opaque Aqua can take a lot of heat and is well suited for sculptural and blown work. This tubing is perfect for layering your favorite colors on top, and proven to work great when encased with clear too!

Northstar PomegranateTubing. Pomegranate is the lightest shade of the self striking ruby family Northstar currently offers. It is designed specifically for sculptural work and thick blown work, allowing for a clear unlivered ruby to be achieved. The self striking rubies are the next generation of colours offering the user cleaner purer colours with less air and difficulty in working. When working #NS0088 Pomegranate use a neutral to slightly oxidizing flame. Once hot #NS0088 Pomegranate will turn transparent just as the standard Northstar rubies, but as it cools (depending on the thickness will strike back to red.) Because this colour is so unsaturated, the final strike must take place to in a kiln. The strike is easily repeatable and the final colour is not affected by soaking in the kiln for long periods of time. Even after numerous reheats no liviering will occur. In addition, #NS0088 Pomegranate will not develop any brown hues as with the case of the other two members of the self striking ruby family. Note the final shade of red is slightly darker than the initial colour of the rod. Once heated and allowed to strike, the final colour can be viewed.
