REDUCTION GUIDE for Aion, Elektra, Gaia, Kronos, Nyx, Psyche
1. Use adequate ventilation for silver rich colours.
2. Shape you piece in a neutral flame. (shortest yellow candle)
3. To begin the reduction process; remove your piece from the flame and allow to cool until no longer glowing hot.
4. Set a slightly reducing flame by turning your gas up.
(longer yellow candles)
5. Pass your piece through the reduction flame for a few seconds. (time to reduce varies by colour)
6. Remove your piece from the flame and check the reduction progress.
7. To further reduce the piece, repeat steps 5-6.
*Clean off undesired results in an oxygen rich flame.
*Hot head users can produce a reduction flame by temporarily covering the air inlet holes with a hot pad or a fusing glove.
STRIKING GUIDE for Khaos, Luna, Triton and TerraNova2
1. Use adequate ventilation for silver rich colors.
2. Work in a hot neutral flame. (shortest yellow candles and no streaks)
3. To begin striking; allow the piece to cool until no longer glowing hot.
4. Gently reheat.
5. Anneal at 940F.
*Working too cool can result in milky colours.
**Multiple heating/cooking cycles can further develop the colour, though a single cycle of the right durations yields the brightest colours.
TIPS for specific colours:
Aion- Works best over dark colours.
Gaia- Compared to Aion and Kronos, Gaia has a much shorter striking time. In just a few passes in the reduction flame it will strike fully.
Elektra- It's nearly impossible to overstrike. Almost the opposite from Gaia, you can have it in a reduction flame for longer periods of time and it will just get redder.
Nyx- Can also be struck in the kiln. Depending on placement, time and temperature, Nyx will fade through a series of blues.
Luna- Work very hot. The hotter it's worked, the brighter the results.
Triton - Work in a neutral flame, allow to cool for a few seconds, reheat far out in a large reducing flame.

ATX-889
2023 Test Batch ATX-889, is a silvered opal. Silvered Opals are R/T glasses. R= reduce. T = technical, in this case the T is for opacifying in the kiln.
We recommend using moderately thin layers of the color and limiting annealing to 920°f for 1 hour to preserve the misty Opal effect.
The pictured bead has a core of Zephyr with a thin layer of ATX-889 encased in Zephyr, with reduced ATX-889 scrollwork.
ARKE
Arke can develop exterior metallic finishes of silver, gold, green, red and blue. Variations in flame chemistry, exposure time and temperature alter which metals are deposited on the surface of the glass. The green metallic finish in the photo was achieved using a "hot" reduction flame. The silver tone resulted from brief exposure to a "cool" reduction flame, while the red tones were developed by repeated reduction. Contrast between these metallic finishes can be highlighted by using a small oxidizing flame to remove the metallic ouster from selected portions of the bead, the re-exposing the bead to a reduction flame, building the metallic layers of alternating composition. Priced per LB as shown and sold in 1/4 LB increments
ATLAS
Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4lb increments.
Atlas is a highly saturated striking color, four times as strong as Skiron. Pure silver is the only colorant. Atlas can produce a range of colors both transparent and opaque, including ambers, purples, blues, and greens. It works well in both surface and encased applications. Super-heating can cause phase separation, creating patterns in the final outcome.
Formulated with the same nucleation system as Skylla, Skiron, Terra3, and Ekho2. Atlas is easy to strike using the reset/cool/warm sequence. It is very responsive to varied thermal history, allowing the development of many different colors on the same piece.
Our benchmark times for surface application are Reset/30 seconds cool/30 seconds strike. A clear encasement layer adds about 15 seconds to the cooling and striking times. Specific times and color outcomes will vary depending on several factors.AURAE
Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4lb increments. Also known as "pinky-purple luster." If you love Triton, you'll love his pink baby sister!CHLOE
Chloe is a green, speckled, luster glass. The speckling comes from thousands of refractive inclusions dispersed throughout the glass. When reduced and encased it creates a textured mother-of-pearl effect. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4LB incrementsCLIO
2023 Clio production contains a purer colorant than previous production runs. Clio is a color-shifting, reset-reduce glass, that transmits ambers and reds with the reds being more visible under incandescent and sunlight. It develops a strong silver luster and maintains its pearlescence under encasement. Reset-Reduce colors need to be reset in a neutral flame before following the reducing process. See our guide on how to reset. See our Phaeton Tutorial for the best techniques to use with Clio.
EKHO2
Ekho2 is a dual color, capable of both reducing and striking. It works best if you choose one technique or the other. Ekho2 is a reformulated version of Ekho. The nucleation system used in Skylla and Skiron has been added, resulting in a glass that is easier to strike.
Ekho2 can be used as a surface luster, an encased pearlescent luster, struck on the surface, or struck under a thin encasement layer.
ELPIS2
Elpis 2 is made in our updated color base resulting in cleaner colors, smoother working characteristics and improved viscosity curves. Elpis 2 is a chrome-free green reducing glass that transmits a spring green color and is resistant to over reducing.
EROS
Our new gold pink based on test batch HWP-791 and Rhea Light. Prefers to be worked cool like Rhea and Theia. Made in our updated color base resulting in cleaner colors, smoother working characteristics and improved viscosity curves.
Bead on the the left is Eros sandwiched between layers of Zephyr. Bead on the right is a core of Eros encased in Zephyr
EUROS
Euros is an opaque white glass that with different heat treatments can produce lavender veining, a blushed ivory or when reduced can fume to a creamy ivory luster with tiny, gold colored spots. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 LB incrementsFLORA
Flora, formerly known as 2022 Test Batch HXO-866 is our Eros gold-pink in a translucent Opal base. Opacifies and strikes in the flame and kiln yielding pink and purple tones.
HELIOS
Priced per pound and sold in 1/4 lb increments
Helios is a super luster in a golden-yellow citrine jewel tone. The texture shown was made with a Jim
Moore hand stamp.HYPERION
A relative of Clio and the CX test series. It's a strong reduction color that is designed to strike automatically during the bead making process to medium amber. To maintain the cleanest color, reset Hyperion until the glass appears clear, and reduce very lightly. Encasing the light reduction in clear results in a purple pearlescent luster with a warm, honey coloured undertone. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4LB incrementsHYPERBOREA
Hyperborea has a rich violet and red colour transmission and easily develops a strong silver luster when reduced. It works well both in surface applications and under encasement.
The colour is saturated and may present best over a core of clear glass, as pictured. A replacement to Boreas, Hyperborea is made in our updated colour base resulting in cleaner colours, smoother working characteristics and improved viscosity curves.Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 lb. increments
IASO (DISCONTINUED)
Iaso (eye-ay-sow) From test batch AX-598, the bronze version of Iris. Iaso has a high copper content and is capable of yielding bronze metallic exterior lusters. Like Iris, brief but repeated exposure to a small, cool reduction flame produces the best results. The temperature of the beads surface, as well as the intensity, duration, and frequency of reduction determines the final outcome. Variations in the luster can be accentuated by using a very small oxidizing flame to selectively erase portions of the luster, then repeating the reduction process. In our experience, a brush reduction flame produces the best results. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 lb. increments
IRIS
Iris is the production version of the most popular test batch from this summer, AX-605. The A was for Arke and the X was for 10 times the strength! This reduction color can yield a multicolored metallic iridescent luster. In our experience, a brush reduction flame produces the best results. Though designed specifically for exterior applications, the silver portion of the luster will hold up under encasement. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 LB increments
JINX
JinxJinx is our first silvered opal. This opal produces a range of misty opal blue and blue-green tones. The luster is best left exposed, and can be silver, gold, or iridescent depending on flame characteristics. For Best Results: Higher temperatures and longer annealing times can initiate further opacification of the opal. Encasing the Opal will also add heat and time so adjust your annealing accordingly or plan on having more opacity. We recommend using moderately thin layers of the color and annealing at 925°f
Bead shown is Jinx encased in Zephyr
KRONOS 2023
Price per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 lb. increments
Kronos 2023, is a blue silvered opal designed to replicate our retired color Kronos.
Silvered Opals are R/T glasses. R= reduce. T = technical, in this case the T is for opacifying in the kiln.,
We recommend using moderately thin layers of the color and limiting annealing to 920°f for 1 hour to preserve the misty Opal effect.
The pictured bead has a core of Kronos 2023 encased in Zephyr, with reduced Kronos 2023 scrollwork.
.
KETO
Keto is a blue-speckled luster based on test batches TC663 and TC665. A relative of both Chloe and Ossa
Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 LB increments
KRX-897
Only 1.75 left in stock2023 Test Batch KRX-897, is a blue silvered opal. Silvered Opals are R/T glasses. R= reduce. T = technical, in this case the T is for opacifying in the kiln.
We recommend using moderately thin layers of the color and limiting annealing to 920°f for 1 hour to preserve the misty Opal effect.
The pictured bead has a core of Zephyr with a thin layer of KRX-897 encased in Zephyr, with reduced KRX-897 scrollwork.
LOTIS
A pink version of Rhea. A lead-free gold pink that plays well with silver colours and survives a reduction flame without discolourations.
MELIA 2
Melia 2 is a chrome-free reformulation of Melia, a teal version of the Arke, Iris, and Iaso family. Different metallic effects are possible depending on the reduction techniques you use. Melia 2 retains its luster under clear encasement. An opaque celadon blue can develop with extended annealing, about one hour at 950F. Lower annealing temperatures and/or shorter times maintain the transparent teal.
NOTOS (DISCONTINUED)
A silver saturated super luster with a subtle blue-grey-green tone. Repeated gentle reduction can yield pink iridescent lusters. Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 LB increments
OKEANOS 2
Priced per pound as shown and sold in 1/4 LB increments
Okeanos 2 is a blue striking and reducing color. Reformulated with the same nucleation system as Terra 3 and Ekho 2, it strikes to a range of blues, greens, purples and amber. It works well on the surface or encased. Super-heating can cause phase separation, resulting in webbing. Okeanos 2 is capable of developing a subtle luster and retaining that luster under clear encasement.
