HAND FOILERS by DRIFTLESS GLASSWORKS
This hand foiler is used to put copper foil around stained glass pieces. This tool helps to separate your foil from the backing paper and place an even line of foil around the glass. Hand foilers allow for steady for accurate foil placement. The hand foiler size is indicated on the sides of the foiler and comes in three sizes: 3/16”, 7/32”, and 1/4”.
Loading instructions:
1. Separate the foil from the backing a few inches.
2. Add a bit of the backing paper to the end of the sticky side of the foil after separating the sticky side from the backing. This makes it so you can load the foil through the channel without sticking.
3. Slide the backing paper of the foil through the back slot of the hand foiler.
4. Slide the foil (sticky side facing down) through the opening and then along the channel.
5. Once the foil is through the channel push the foil behind the bushing wheel and flip the foiler around to see the sticky side of the tape running along the bearing.
6. Remove the extra paper from the foil and begin!
Tips:
-Video instructions available at www.driftlessglassworks.com under Stained Glass Tips
-Make sure to uncoil a long line of foil from the spool so it does not get tangled and cause the backing paper to slide up the channel.
-Clean the foiler with isopropyl alcohol if any adhesive begins to build up.
Colours will vary.
